The 90 Mile Holiday Retreat; has been an exiting project to be involved in. The Fowler Family, have turned a piece of forgotten land into a wonderful holiday destination for the people of Victoria. The Retreat also became a finalist in the Gippsland Business Awards for Environmental Performance. The was an exiting competition to be involved in. The Retreat also supports the Annual Golden Beach Surf Fishing competition, which is held over the long weekend in January each year.

This Fishing Report, is only a selection of fishing on the retreat - We hope you enjoy reading our report.

Early December 2003

One of best fisherman returned to catch, 5 large Salmon 3 Flathead, 2 Leopard sharks 1 Whaler Shark (toothy) 3ft Gummy Shark was caught at 11.30 at night.

December 13th and 14th

Dean and his father Simon caught, 2 gummy's Sharks 3-½ ft, 1 giant String Ray, 2 small Leopard Sharks, 1 small Flathead, all caught on squid and bluebait.

December14th

1 Gummy Shark, 7 Flathead, 41/2 foot School Shark, 8 Salmon, 1 Hammerhead Shark, 1 Tailor.

December leading up to Christmas and early January

Was busy with plenty of magnificent fish being caught, off the surf. Many Gummies were taken, plus some good sizes Flathead and Salmon.

January 10th, 2004

6 Salmon, 2 Hammerhead Sharks, 6 Tailor, 3 Trivially (one Trivially was over 30cm), 1Gummy Shark, 1- 7 Gill Shark 3 ft in length. Plus a large bucket of Flathead.

Saturday 11th of January

Simon and his son returned to catch 2 magnificent Gummies Sharks, 5 Flathead, 1 large Salmon a great night of fishing.

Monday 19th through to Thursday 22nd

we experience winding conditions everybody’s thrilled about the Fishing Competition this long weekend the weather should be magnificent.

The 36 th Annual Golden Beach Telstra Country Wide Surf Fishing Competition was a huge success with many different variety being caught off the 90 mile beach.

December 04 and January 05

has been marvelous summer Holidays at the 90-Mile beach holiday Retreat, with many people and large groups staying and enjoying our beautiful weather and lovely surrounds.

The fishing has been exceptually good over the last 2 months. Many good size Salmon have been caught of the surf. Followed by Flathead, Hammerhead, and Banjo Sharks. Baby sharks, have been caught and returned to the surf. A total of ten sharks were caught over night some being 4ft and 3ft in length.

The Winners of the team events, The Beach Boys are back, fishing at the Retreat this weekend for the 47 th Annual Golden Beach Telstra Country Wide and had a great night fishing to the early hours. The team caught 10 Gummy sharks,10 Flathead, 1 Salmon and 1 Hammer head shark.

The 90-Mile Beach Holiday Retreat is currently busy taking bookings for the Christmas Holidays.

Our Accommodation will include new Cottages and Lodges. On- Site caravans with lovely Sunrooms, powered and unpowered sites, also Olympic Village accommodation We also are taking bookings for the Australia Day Long Weekend in January/04, were we work enthusiastically with the Golden Beach Surf Fishing Competition, to make it a great success. Easter next April/ 04 is not far away and the Retreat is already being filled with Fishermen and family groups

January & Feburary 2006

Early January, Simon one off our regulars, and a magnificent fishing trip over 3 days. Catching large Gummy Shark, 4ft and 3 inches, followed the next day by 2 3ft Gummies. He also landed 25 flathead, 1 salmon all caught on Blue Bait and Squid Legs.

The Australia Day Weekend, was very busy at the Retreat with all the regulars enjoying the magnificent weather. Our fisherman all entered the Annual Golden Beach Fishing Competition. The Teams event was won by the Northern Boys who fished directly off the Ocean at the Retreat catching 17.6kg of fish. Their catch consists of:
 Thursday night: 2 large Gummy Sharks, 2 Salmon and 15 Flathead. Friday: 1 Gummy Shark, 2 Flathead. Saturday: 15 Mullet and 3 Flathead.

Many other fisherman did very well, also at the Fishing Competition from the Retreat catching Salmon, Gummy Shark, Trivially, Mullet and Flathead the Northern Boys caught the heaviest Gummy with a fisherman from the Retreat coming second. The Competition attracted 1050 entries. 800 adults and 200 children. The Campervan that was won by a local from the Paradise Beach area. This is the 5th Year the 90 Mile Beach Holiday Retreat has supported the competition.

Feb 2006 What a beautiful night spent fishing on out fabulous 90 mile Beach Holiday Retreat. I was walking the dogs in the beautiful moon light when a fisherman landed a magnificent gummy shark his second for the night (A good size aprox. 3ft)

The fishing at the Retreat has been excellent over the Christmas period, with plenty of Salmon, Mullet, Trivially, Gunny Sharks being landed off the beach. Our accommodation was full with families and fisherman enjoying themselves either walking or fishing our beautiful surf beaches.
